PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a performance thermoplastic known for its chemical inertness & resistance to attack, low coefficient of friction, broad operating temperature range, excellent dielectric properties, thermal & electrical insulating, negligible water absorption, high corrosion resistanceand non-stick characteristic and among many others, it's also a kind of engineering plastic, with a wide working temperature range(-180 to +260 ºC), and can be made with filled(reinforced) materials, such as glass fiber, graphite and bronze, to improve the properties.
PTFE properties are often enhanced using a variety of fillers creating a PTFE compound, such as a 15 or 25% glass filled PTFE, to improve wear resistance, increase part stability, and improves creep strength and reduce deformation under load in comparison with virgin grade PTFE. For electrical insulators, the addition of glass filler has little impact on electrical properties.
PTFE GASKETS come in all shapes and sizes,Gaskets are an integral component of any device which requires the confinement of a gas or liquid. They compensate for the unconformity of mating surfaces. These surface irregularities may be minute or large depending on the purpose of the device but in all cases, the gasket is required to compensate for the difference while limiting the flow of fluid in either direction. Gaskets differ from seals in that gaskets are normally cut from sheets or rolls while seals are formed individually in their own configuration. A flat cut gasket is derived from material of specific thickness and to a configuration that is designed for a specific application
